community work

At the close of 2024, I stepped down from my board position at the Cinnabar Foundation after serving in a variety of capacities since 1997.
Founded by my in-laws, the Foundation supports nonprofit organizations working in Montana and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem on strategic conservation solutions to conserve, preserve and restore our natural heritage as this region adapts to a changing environment. I continue to serve Cinnabar and its programs in the capacity of an emeritus director.

In 2007 several neighbors and I co-created a citizens action group — Buellton Is Our Town — that successfully campaigned an urban growth boundary initiative the following year. In 2010 and 2011, BIOT participated in a community-wide visioning process held in our small, rural town. I chaired the arts and culture subcommittee and served on five others.

Previous community board positions I've held include: Fund for Santa Barbara, Arts Outreach, WE Watch, Artists Guild of the Santa Ynez Valley, SYV Arts, City of Buellton Arts + Culture Committee.
