MOROCCAN FANTASY IN B MINOR

As a child I dreamed of calling together a group of friends who boarded a plane with me to embark upon an adventure. Like a seed nurtured underground, my dream grew strong, developed roots over many decades … until 2014 when it was ready to break the surface into the light of day.

On our month long trip to Morocco, included many adventures — an evening of trance dancing, music and poetry by Jalaleddin Mohammed Balkhi (Rumi) recited in Persian during the Annual Sufi Cultural Festival; wandering through mazes of ancient serpentine medinas; roaming through souks, mosques, and ancient ruins, and palaces; eating exotic and delicious foods from Casablanca to Fez, Ouarzazate to Marrakesh; watching an Easter morning sunrise over the Sahara Desert; collecting spices, rugs, and jewelry; and of course photographing and collecting memories and stories.

The images below are my attempt to capture the beauty, mystery, and curiosity I felt while. Each image is a an archival inkjet print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper. Most are 22"x17".
